Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software have disclosed the system requirements for the PC version of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is set to launch on July 26 via both Steam and the Epic Games Store. The specifications come alongside anticipated performance metrics, encompassing frame rate, resolution, and graphics settings.

Notably, the game will offer support for various technologies such as DLSS, FSR, and XeSS. Furthermore, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be among the first titles to utilize DirectStorage 1.2, Microsoft’s technology designed to accelerate game loading times.

DirectStorage 1.2 Enhances Loading Speeds

When Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart debuted on PlayStation 5 in June 2021, it was lauded for its optimized loading speeds that leveraged the console’s SSD drive. However, the minimum PC requirements now permit the use of mechanical storage, albeit limited to 720p resolution, 30 FPS, and lower graphics quality.

This could potentially be attributed to the implementation of DirectStorage 1.2, a technology specifically developed to maximize the performance of NVMe PCIe SSDs, while also remaining compatible with SATA SSDs and traditional HDDs.

Benefits of DirectStorage Integration

DirectStorage offers numerous advantages, including the utilization of the GPU for data decompression, a task traditionally handled by the CPU. By leveraging the graphics card for this process, the CPU is freed up to allocate resources to other tasks, resulting in faster texture transmission even at higher graphics settings.

This integration of DirectStorage technology in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart ensures an enhanced gaming experience on PCs equipped with compatible hardware.
