The stakes continue escalating on FX’s epic drama Shogun, with a new trailer for episode 8 hinting at risky moves by Lord Toranaga (Hiroyuki Sanada) even as unrest threatens to shatter his tenuous hold on power.
Central to the upcoming installment is a mysterious mission that Toranaga tasks his trusted confidante Mariko (Anna Sawai) with in Osaka. Though the nature of this endeavor remains unclear, the preview shows John Blackthorne (Cosmo Jarvis) urging Mariko to refuse – advice she swiftly rejects, reaffirming her fierce loyalty.

Adding another layer is the scheming of Lord Ishido (Takehiro Hira), who proposes cementing an alliance through marriage with the influential Lady Ochiba (Fumi Nikaido).
