Fans of the upcoming DC Universe film “Superman” have been treated to unexpected sneak peeks of David Corenswet’s Man of Steel, thanks to recently shared set photos from Cleveland. The images, which have quickly circulated online, offer tantalizing new details about James Gunn’s highly anticipated reboot of the iconic superhero franchise.

X/Twitter user @brian_lumley posted photos of two newsstands on the film’s set, showcasing newspapers from The Daily Planet and the Metropolis Eagle. While the user initially praised the attention to detail in the set dressing, eagle-eyed fans made an exciting discovery upon closer inspection.

The set dressing on the Superman set here in Cleveland is almost complete. I love the little details that NO ONE will see. pic.twitter.com/hNWPfCWRxJ

The newspaper headlines and accompanying images provide the first glimpse of Corenswet’s Superman in action. One story, “Superman Stops MTA Rail From Running Off The Tracks,” features a photo of the hero halting a moving train. Another headline, “Superman Saves 20 After Downtown Building Collapse,” shows the Man of Steel in a stoic pose, offering a clearer view of his costume, including the classic red underwear that has been the subject of much fan discussion.

Adding to the excitement, a photo credit on one of the images reads “Jimmy Olson,” a nod to Superman’s longtime friend and ally, who will be portrayed by Skyler Gisondo in the film.

In addition to these newspaper images, separate photos have surfaced showing Corenswet in full Superman attire alongside Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, providing fans with an even better look at the new incarnation of the beloved hero.

Brian Lumley, who shared the initial set photos, revealed in follow-up comments that the Cleveland shoot is for “a big action sequence,” suggesting that these meticulously crafted set details may not be prominently featured in the final cut of the film. Lumley noted, “The crazy thing is the newspaper boxes were facing the buildings, presumably away from the cameras,” and added, “It’s a big action sequence being shot, so it’ll be quick cuts, etc.”

While official footage from the film has yet to be released, these set photos have ignited fan excitement and speculation about what Gunn’s vision for Superman will entail. The film, which is now over halfway through production, is scheduled for release on July 11, 2025.

Standard newspaper definition. The crazy thing is the newspaper boxes were facing the buildings, presumably away from the cameras so I don’t think the papers will ever be seen by the audience. It’s a big action sequence being shot, so it’ll be quick cuts, etc.

As anticipation builds, the film’s cast has been sharing glimpses of their superhero physiques on social media, further fueling the growing excitement for this new chapter in the Superman legacy. With these unexpected peeks at the production, fans are eagerly awaiting more official content from the film in the coming months.
