Charlie Cox took the stage at GalaxyCon Raleigh this past weekend to share compelling new details about the highly anticipated Marvel series “Daredevil: Born Again.” As anticipation builds for the new Disney+ chapter, Cox provided insight into pivotal changes that expanded the show’s connections to its groundbreaking Netflix predecessor.
Originally, the plan was to distance the new series from its former identity on the streamer. A planned cameo for Elden Henson’s Foggy Nelson was intended to “end the link” between franchises, dismaying long-time “Devil” fans. However, Cox revealed the creative team opted to bring Henson and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen Page back as leads instead. “It was pretty heartbreaking at first, but I’m thrilled they’re coming home,” Cox told the excited GalaxyCon crowd.
Joining the core trio are a plethora of noted alums, including Jon Bernthal’s punishing Punisher, Wilson Bethel reprising the maniacal role of Bullseye, and Ayelet Zurer back as Vanessa Fisk. Newcomers on deck include Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini and Genneya Walton.
Filming for the highly anticipated 18-episode run took place across eight months in 2023 and early 2024. Cox said Daredevil and Kingpin, once again played Vincent D’Onofrio, will have “their own arcs” that intersect only a “few times.” Episodes are also expected to weave in arcs from the Disney+ series “Echo.”
With post-production underway, Cox teased the series will make its own mark at Disney’s prestigious D23 Expo in August ahead of the March 2025 premiere date. As the saga of Hell’s Kitchen’s guardian returns to where it all began, anticipation is reaching a fever pitch among longtime loyal fans and new viewers alike.
