Man, the latest episode of “House of the Dragon” was insane! Called “The Red Dragon and the Gold”, it had a record number of viewers at over 8 million people. Even better than the season opener! This show is really taking off now that the dragons are front and center.
The big battle scene in episode 4 was epic. It happened at Rook’s Rest, like in George R.R. Martin’s book. We finally got to see Prince Aemond’s dragon Vhagar go up against Princess Rhaenys’ dragon Meleys. No spoilers, but it was intense!
Unlike season 1 where the dragons didn’t do much, now they’re the stars. We’re learning about each dragon’s personality and how close they are with their riders. So when they fight, it really feels emotional. You can sense the bond between dragon and person.
Ryan Condal, who creates the show with George R.R. Martin, has amped things up this season. The story happens everywhere in Westeros now. We see some seriously wild battles that have you on the edge of your seat for your fave characters.
Viewers are a little lower than last season overall, but streaming makes up for it. HBO says over 25 million watched the premiere in just 3 weeks! Clearly people can’t get enough of the Targaryens.
No surprise that HBO renewed the show for season 3 already. Fans will get to enjoy this family drama for years to come. Strap in because the dragon fights are just getting started. And did you catch that new character Ulf the White? Rumor has it more dragon riders may show up soon!
Of course, all this dragon-on-dragon action comes at a cost. Their war called the “Dance of the Dragons” makes the dragons an endangered species. It will seriously weaken House Targaryen’s power over Westeros.
For now though, viewers are hooked on the dragons and the cutthroat political plotlines. “House of the Dragon” proves it can deliver both tension and heart, just like “Game of Thrones” before it. This show is truly soaring to new heights!
