The hit show, which brings back the ’90s “X-Men” animated series we all know and love, is heading into its third season with some big changes. Matthew Chauncey has been chosen as the new head writer. He takes over from Beau DeMayo, who left the job earlier this year.
Chauncey is no stranger to Marvel stories. He’s written for other animated shows like “What If…?” and the live-action series “Ms. Marvel.” With his experience writing both cartoons and live movies, he seems like a great fit to guide where the new season goes.
Season one of the revival was a huge hit on Disney+. The early episodes got over 4 million viewers in just a few days. Even the season finale had around 3.5 million people tuning in. That makes it one of the most watched animation finales on the streaming service!
It seems like Disney+ and Marvel are confident Chauncey can keep the success going. He’ll work closely with Jake Castorena, who’s still the head director. They may even change up some of the plans for season two to align better with Chauncey’s vision for season three.
Fan favorites like Cyclops (voiced by Ray Chase), Jean Grey (Jennifer Hale), and Wolverine (Cal Dodd) will all return for more mutant action. We might learn more about what’s coming at Comic-Con this summer. Marvel is confirmed to appear, so maybe they’ll spill some updates on seasons two and three!
For now, you can rewatch the first season on Disney+ to get your X-Men fix. With this new writer coming aboard, it looks like the classic cartoon is poised to evolve in exciting new directions. Fans can’t wait to see what’s in store!
