Miranda Cosgrove, star of the hit series “iCarly,” has expressed her desire to conclude the show’s storyline with a feature-length film. Following the cancellation of the Paramount+ revival series in October 2023, Cosgrove has been vocal about her hopes to provide closure for fans.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight during a screening of her new Netflix rom-com “Mother of the Bride,” Cosgrove stated, “I’d love to still be able to wrap up the story in some way. Maybe, hopefully, someday, we’ll still do it.” She added, “I feel like it would probably be more along the lines of maybe a movie, that would kind of wrap it all up or something like that. So that’s what I’m hoping for.”
The revival series, which ran for three seasons on Paramount+, ended on a cliffhanger. The finale saw Carly and Freddie (Nathan Kress) considering marriage just as Carly’s long-absent mother made a surprise appearance. This unresolved plot point has left fans eager for resolution.
Cosgrove expressed particular interest in exploring Carly’s relationship with her mother, a character who remained unseen throughout the original Nickelodeon series. “I want to know who Carly’s mother is as much as [fans do],” Cosgrove said. “It seems like a lot of people were hoping to see that.”
The original “iCarly” series ran from 2007 to 2012 on Nickelodeon, becoming a major hit with 109 episodes over six seasons. The Paramount+ revival, which premiered in 2021, took a more mature approach, addressing adult themes and appealing to the now-grown original audience.
While the possibility of an “iCarly” movie remains uncertain, Cosgrove’s comments have given fans reason for optimism. The actress had previously shared similar sentiments with Variety, stating, “I’m pretty sure it’s gonna happen. I’m excited, and I’d love to get to wrap up the story.”
As fans await news of a potential movie, they can stream the first three seasons of the “iCarly” revival on Paramount+. Cosgrove can currently be seen starring alongside Brooke Shields and Chad Michael Murray in “Mother of the Bride” on Netflix.
