Netflix’s “One Piece” live-action show is working hard on Season 2. The President of the studio behind the show, Tomorrow Studios, gave an interview updating fans on what’s happening.
Season 2 is going to take a while to film. They’re shooting things outside later in the year to avoid super hot summer weather. And there will be a ton of computer-generated special effects since this season has a lot of magical pirate adventures.
Because of all the filming and effects work, Season 2 probably won’t be out until late 2025 or even mid 2026. That’s way longer than usual between seasons! But the production team wants to make sure everything looks absolutely amazing, just like how Season 1 turned out.
Some casting news – famous actress Jamie Lee Curtis couldn’t play Dr. Kureha after all due to her schedule. But the President said they found someone else who’s going to be perfect for the role. A few new actors have also joined the show to play characters like Mr. 3, Captain Smoker, and Tashigi.
This season will adapt several storylines straight from the manga, like adventures in Loguetown, mysterious islands, and a spooky town of weird pirates. All packed into the usual 8 episodes.
Fans will have to wait a while, but it sounds like the extra time will be worth it. Season 1 was such a success because it stayed so true to the original story while still feeling real. I can’t want to see what epic pirate battles and mysteries Season 2 has in store! In the meantime, I’ll just re-watch Season 1 on Netflix.
