Rumors have been swirling about Disney making a live-action version of the animated hit Tangled. Zachary Levi, who voiced charming thief Flynn Rider, shared his thoughts on who could play the role.
Levi was at the premiere of Harold and the Purple Crayon when Entertainment Tonight asked him about a Tangled remake. “Well, he’s getting every role these days, but I think Timothée Chalamet would be perfect for Flynn,” Levi said. At 43, Levi figures he’s too old now. “I don’t know all the young actors, but Timothée seems like he could nail Flynn’s swagger.”
Chalamet, known for Call Me By Your Name and Dune, showed off his singing skills in Wonka recently. His upcoming role as Bob Dylan in A Complete Unknown shows how versatile he is. That makes him a good fit for charming, charismatic Flynn Rider, in my opinion.
Disney hasn’t said if they’re really doing a live-action Tangled yet. But Levi and co-star Mandy Moore, who voiced Rapunzel, are totally here for the idea. Levi thinks it would be fun if they played Rapunzel’s parents in a cameo.
Moore told Elite Daily she thinks the same. She even pitched pop star Sabrina Carpenter as the live-action Rapunzel. “Sabrina looks just like an actual Disney princess,” Moore noted.
Fans are split on the remake buzz. Some can’t wait to see Tangled brought to life. But others love it just the way it is in animation form. A few fans suggested doing a Tangled theme park ride instead of a movie.
Whether or not a live-action film happens, the 2010 Tangled still enchants people over a decade later. Its magic sparkles on!
