Apple TV+ has announced that the fourth season of the popular espionage drama Slow Horses will premiere on September 4. The show stars Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, the cynical head of Britain’s Slough House spy division. Season Four is based on author Mick Herron’s fifth novel about the misfit spies.
Slow Horses follows agents who have made career-ending mistakes and been relegated to the Slough House headquarters. Jackson Lamb oversees their work, which often involves strange and dangerous tasks. Season Four will kick off with a bombing that reveals secrets about the agents and threatens the stability of Slough House. The team must then work together to solve new mysteries while facing personal dangers.
Oldman will return as Lamb, joined again by co-stars like Kristin Scott Thomas, Jack Lowden, and Jonathan Pryce. Several new high-profile actors like Hugo Weaving and Joanna Scanlan have also been added. The show has received widespread critical acclaim for its complex characters, dark humor, and twisting storylines. It has earned nine Emmy nominations including for Outstanding Drama Series.
In an interview, Oldman said he enjoys portraying Lamb and would like to continue in the role as long as Apple funds new seasons. The books’ author Mick Herron has written additional novels that could provide source material. Season Five has already been greenlit and will center on Herron’s fifth book “London Rules.”
Slow Horses has built a dedicated fanbase drawn in by its compelling characters and clever plots. Viewers are eager to see what new challenges and surprises await the bumbling spies when Season Four premieres this September on Apple TV+.
