In a move sure to excite die-hard fans, Netflix hit “Stranger Things” is transporting its supernatural mystery to the Broadway stage with the highly anticipated new production “Stranger Things: The First Shadow.” Set to begin previews March 28, 2025 at the Marquis Theatre, this immersive prequel play will offer audiences a new chapter in the exciting saga before the television show wraps its run.

Conceived by “Stranger Things” masterminds the Duffer Brothers alongside series writer Kate Trefry and acclaimed playwright Jack Thorne, “The First Shadow” transports viewers back to 1959 Hawkins, Indiana. There, in a simpler time before unknown horrors shook the town, key characters like Police Chief Jim Hopper, future scientist Joyce Maldonado, and kind-hearted Bob Newby navigate the trials of small-town life. But all is not as it seems – the arrival of mysterious new student Henry Creel soon sets disturbing events in motion that will shake Hawkins to its core.

Helming this dramatic stage adaptation is none other than renowned director Stephen Daldry, with co-director Justin Martin. Audiences can expect the same gripping suspense and hints of otherworldly terror that have captivated millions worldwide. With a creative team this talented at the helm, theatergoers are sure to find themselves fully immersed in the enthralling mystery unfolding before them each night.

Leading the star-studded cast is Shane Attwooll as the younger, unburdened incarnation of fan-favorite Chief Hopper. Christopher Buckley takes on the good-natured role of Bob Newby, with Isabella Pappas playing the spirited Joyce Maldonado. Their powerful performances have already wowed London critics since the production’s debut last December.

For devoted “Stranger Things” viewers awaiting the climax of the television saga, this stage adaptation offers a whole new way to delve deeper into the complex mythology and uncover unknown secrets of Hawkins’ sinister past. As theStranger Things franchise branches into live entertainment, it promises an evening of pulse-pounding thrills and endless speculation to tide fans over until the final chapter next year. This is truly an event not to be missed.
