Legendary character actor Doug Jones will reprise his memorable role as Baron Afanas in the sixth and final season of the hit FX comedy series “What We Do in the Shadows.” In an interview with Screen Rant, Jones expressed enthusiasm about returning to the comical vampire character for the show’s conclusion.
The Baron has become a fan-favorite after appearing in 11 episodes across the first five seasons. Jones said playing the bumbling but ambitious Afanas has brought him much joy. “He’s such a silly vampire, always scheming for more power but never quite succeeding,” said Jones. “It’s been great fun for me.”
Show creators have confirmed Baron Afanas will be back, allowing long-time viewers a final chance to enjoy the character’s antics among the vampire housemates. “What We Do in the Shadows” follows the daily lives of four vampires and their human familiar who share a Staten Island home. The mockumentary-style show is known for blending supernatural lore with mundane human situations.
In addition to Jones returning, “Saturday Night Live” comedian Mike O’Brien will debut as Jerry, a roommate forgotten since the 1970s who awakens from a decades-long nap. Season six will consist of 11 episodes airing weekly starting October 21. Both new and familiar faces promise to deliver a fitting and fun conclusion to the beloved comedy when it signs off after six seasons of entertaining fans with its unique brand of humor.
