Renowned horror film director Jordan Peele remains secretive about his next movie project slated for release in 2026. Peele dodged specific questions about the mysterious film during a recent appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” When asked for details, Peele told Fallon, “Let the mystery swirl. You’re not getting anything out of me tonight, Jimmy!”
Originally scheduled for this past December, the untitled film was pushed back due to strikes in the film industry in 2023. While acknowledging the delay, Peele said he wants “to keep everybody in a painful suspense. Trust me, it’ll pay off.”
Peele opened up more about some of his favorite horror movies rather than his own film. As part of a segment where Fallon tested his horror knowledge, Peele ranked six influential movies in the genre. He ranked “A Nightmare on Elm Street” as his top pick due to the chilling nature of its villain, Freddy Krueger. Peele said of Krueger, “He was always cracking a joke and, like, you know, killing them with, like, a pun.”
The other films in Peele’s ranking included “The Exorcist,” “Psycho,” “The Shining,” and “Saw.” He placed his own film “Get Out” fifth on the list. This ranking provides insight into what has influenced Peele’s approach to the horror genre.
Beyond film, Peele discussed rebooting the hidden camera reality show “Scare Tactics” through his production company. Now airing on USA Network, the show places friends and family in fake terrifying situations. Peele sees value in the show for his writing process. As he said, “You would see how real people will justify staying in creepy situations, and it’s so fun.”
As fans and critics eagerly anticipate Peele’s next film release in 2026, he continues pushing creative boundaries in both film and television. With acclaimed socially conscious horror films like “Get Out” and “Us,” expectations are high for what Peele will deliver next. However, as the director prefers to keep plot details private for now, audiences will need to wait impatiently for more clues about his mysterious upcoming movie project.
