Peacock’s popular game show “The Traitors” will premiere its third season on January 9. Host Alan Cumming revealed the start date during an appearance on NBC’s “Today” show. The unscripted program sees a group of celebrity contestants working together to complete missions while attempting to identify hidden “traitors” planted among them.
Over 21 famous faces from reality television will compete this season. Cumming personally selects at least three players to secretly sabotage the others’ efforts. Notable names signed on include fitness expert Bob Harper from “The Biggest Loser,” drag queen Bob the Drag Queen of “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” real estate agent Chrishell Stause from “Selling Sunset,” and restaurateur Tom Sandoval from “Vanderpump Rules.”
The format remains unchanged. Contestants called “faithfuls” collaborate to win up to $250,000 in prizes if they can weed out the traitors. However, identifying the traitors isn’t easy as teamwork and distrust must be balanced. Produced by Studio Lambert, the series draws in viewers with its blend of strategy, manipulation, and sudden twists.
Fans can look forward to the psychological tricks and eliminations when season three premieres in early January. The Traitors’ popularity contributed to it becoming the number one unscripted show on streaming platforms during its last run. Its success was also recognized with a 2021 Emmy for Outstanding Casting in a Reality Program.
