Hollywood star Tom Hardy will narrate an upcoming three-part series exploring daring operations by elite military forces. The series, titled “Special Forces: Most Daring Missions,” will focus on high-profile incidents undertaken by the UK’s Special Air Service (SAS). Each episode will spotlight a real covert operation conducted by groups like the SAS. The show aims to highlight missions that display tremendous bravery and skill.
Episodes will recount missions like the 1980 siege of the Iranian embassy in London, known as “Operation Nimrod.” Federico Ruiz, an executive for the streaming service Paramount+, said the missions “showcased tremendous courage, often attempting rescues or responses that would seem impossible even for fictional heroes.” The show is a collaboration between production companies Soho Studios Entertainment and Two Rivers Media. It will debut later this year on Paramount+ in the UK and Ireland, with global distribution handled by Sphere Abacus.
Ian Lamarra, founder of Soho Studios, said that with more services investing in factual programming, “it’s an important time to produce internationally appealing shows.” He hopes the brand could expand to cover missions by other elite units like Navy SEALs and Green Berets. Alan Clements, Managing Director of Two Rivers Media, called it a “high-adrenaline series” that establishes the company as a top documentary producer.
Both Lamarra and Clements praised Tom Hardy’s suitability as narrator. Lamarra said Hardy is “knowledgeable and passionate about the topic,” and his voice will enhance the viewing experience. Along with Lamarra, Clements, and Hardy, the executive producers include series producer Robert Neill and series director David Whitney. International sales of the series will begin at the upcoming MIPCOM event in Cannes.
With gripping stories of real-world bravery and Hardy’s star power behind it, “Special Forces: Most Daring Missions” aims to captivate global audiences for Paramount+.
