In light of her recent success with “Stree 2,” Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor is cautious about her future film commitments. She shared her dedication to choosing quality above quantity at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, signalling a fundamental turn in her professional trajectory.
Kapoor’s current film has broken records, surpassing Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” to become the highest-grossing Hindi film. With this accomplishment, she now focuses on projects that provide meaningful artistic expression. “I’m okay not doing something, or doing films back to back, that I don’t feel in my gut,” she told festival participants, underscoring her new degree of selectivity.
Her vision goes beyond personal accomplishments. Kapoor hopes to contribute to a broader vision for the industry. “The kind of films I want to do will be forward-moving for the industry,” she told me.
In addition, Kapoor counseled aspiring actors, warning them against the attraction of fame. “Don’t do it for the glamor,” she urged. If you want to be an actor, glamor is 10 percent; 90 percent is hard work.” This viewpoint highlights her mature understanding of an industry that frequently prioritizes appearance over substance.
Kapoor is looking forward to her artistic path. “I feel the best is yet to come,” she said. “I feel that there’s a lot that I want to do, different kinds of films, different kinds of characters.”
The Red Sea Film Festival, where Kapoor shared her ideas, will run until December 14. It provides a forum for filmmakers and actors to debate their work and vision.
