On Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton, the 82nd Golden Globe Awards honored stories worldwide. Emilia Pérez, a French film, stood out by winning several important awards, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Non-English Language Film. The film’s supporting actress, Zoe Saldaña, also won an award for her work.

Again, A24’s “The Brutalist” won the award for best drama. Brady Corbet won the award for Best Director, and Adrien Brody won Best Actor in a Drama. With these awards, The Brutalist is now a strong candidate for more awards.

There were many different shows that won awards, but FX’s Shogun won the most awards for drama. Anna Sawai and Hiroyuki Sanada were honored for their roles in the series, which won Best Drama Series.

The comedy series Hacks continued its winning streak by winning the award for Best TV Series—Musical or Comedy. While she was on the show, Jean Smart won another award for her performance.

The event was shown on CBS and Paramount+ and was hosted by Nikki Glaser. After big changes to how it’s run, this year’s event showed how the Golden Globes have changed. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association had owned the awards show for two years before Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge bought it. The new structure has a voting group made up of journalists from around the world, which is more diverse.

Unlike in the past, lifetime achievement awards were given out at a different event on Friday night. The Cecil B. DeMille Award went to Viola Davis, and the Carol Burnett Award went to Ted Danson. The first Golden Gala was attended by famous people in the business, including Jane Fonda, Meryl Streep, and Carol Burnett.

Peter Straughan won Best Screenplay for Conclave, among the other important film awards. The musical team Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross won Best Original Score for Challengers. The animated movie Flow won its award, and Wicked was praised for its success at the movies and at the box office.

Jessica Gunning won for her performance, and Netflix’s Baby Reindeer won the award for Best Limited Series in television. Stand-up comedy was also honored that night, with Ali Wong winning for her show Single Lady.

The event, which had 27 categories for film and TV, was put together by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner for the second year in a row. It showed how foreign productions are becoming more important and how global entertainment is growing in Hollywood.
