Nickelodeon is breathing new life into the popular “Victorious” franchise with a comedy series that brings back Daniella Monet as Trina Vega – this time as a teacher at Hollywood Arts High School.
The multi-camera comedy, currently titled “Hollywood Arts,” marks the second spinoff from the original series that aired from 2010 to 2013. Monet will not only star in the show but also serve as an executive producer, bringing her extensive television experience to the project.
“I could not be happier” about the new venture, said Avan Jogia, one of Monet’s former co-stars, in an Instagram Stories post that hints at continued camaraderie among the original cast. While the network has not yet confirmed whether other original cast members will appear, early social media interactions suggest positive feelings about the project.
The original “Victorious” was a hit, earning two Emmy nominations for outstanding children’s program during its four-season run. The series launched the careers of several young actors, including Ariana Grande, who went on to star in the first spinoff, “Sam & Cat.”
Notably, the new series will move forward without Dan Schneider, the original creator who left Nickelodeon in 2018. This comes in the wake of recent documentaries examining allegations of inappropriate behavior during his time at the network.
The creative team includes writer-producer Jake Farrow and writer Samantha Martin, both veterans of the original “Victorious” and its first spinoff. Casting is currently underway, though the show has not yet received an official greenlight from Nickelodeon.
Monet brings additional television experience to the project, with credits including roles in “Nancy Drew,” “Follow Your Heart,” and “Baby Daddy.” Fans of the original series will be eager to see how she transforms from Trina Vega, the ambitious older sister, to a teacher at the same high school that launched her character’s original storyline.
