Leaked Set Photo Reveals Captain America and The Thing Team-Up in “Avengers: Doomsday”

First on-set images spotlight a historic Avengers-Fantastic Four alliance while Marvel fine-tunes its holiday 2026 blockbuster.

Leaked on-set photographs from Marvel’s in-production crossover “Avengers: Doomsday” show Sam Wilson’s Captain America standing beside U.S. Agent, The Thing and a new Black Panther aboard what looks like an alien vessel, offering the first visual proof that the Avengers, New Avengers and the Fantastic Four will share scenes in the 2026 release.

Captured during night shooting at Pinewood’s north backlot, the images were reposted across fan sites within minutes of appearing on an assistant’s private Instagram feed. The sequence is thought to form part of an “incursion” rescue that earlier spoiler threads said would involve Monica Rambeau stranded between universes.

Marvel has not commented on the leak, yet studio president Kevin Feige recently stressed the film’s direct link to next July’s “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” confirming that Reed Richards and his team act as a bridge into the ensemble story. Feige also revealed that principal photography quietly began in May, with Florence Pugh completing a preliminary motion-capture stint before returning to “Thunderbolts*.”

“Doomsday” is scheduled for 18 December 2026 after Disney moved both upcoming Avengers pictures into a year-end corridor aimed at holiday audiences. Joe and Anthony Russo steer the project—marking their first MCU feature since “Endgame”—from a script now credited to Stephen McFeely following multiple rewrites triggered by the removal of Kang actor Jonathan Majors. Unverified reports suggest the third act remains fluid, with alternate villain line-ups still under design review.

Observers view the current roster as a strategic reset after what many regard as an uneven Phase 5; producer Nate Moore argued earlier this year that Avengers stories function best when led by a Captain America, a mantle Wilson now holds while legacy heroes such as Thor and Doctor Strange shift to supporting roles. Fan forums have since lit up with speculation about dialogue pairings—including whether Pedro Pascal’s Mister Fantastic will trade quips with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor—months before an official trailer is expected.
