Kendrick had worked on the film for two years as both star and producer when delays caused production to stall. Woman of the Hour is based on the true story of 1970s actress Cheryl Bradshaw, played by Kendrick. When Bradshaw and a serial killer appear on the game show The Dating Game, their encounter takes a frightening turn.
