Sega Producer Just Knows What Will Be Sonic’s Next Game

It just won’t come out for the next few years!

Sonic Frontiers

The imminent release of Sonic Frontiers, one of the most awaited games of the year, has caused a lot of controversy due to the first videos that were published of its open world.

Nevertheless, many people changed their minds with the release of new images, and now, a lot of people are wondering if this next title will be the foundation for the future of the saga.

Game Informer recently interviewed Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka and had a bunch of quick questions for him. In particular, one was about whether or not Iizuka already knew what the next game was going to be.

His short answer was yes. In response to this, he was asked if he could name any, only to be met with a refusal due to confidential matters.

The following is what he said in a longer interview with VentureBeat:

We are now taking the next step. This is the third generation, almost. Obviously we know we’re showing the fans something new that may not make sense to them yet. But we really wanted to think about where we need to take Sonic over the next 10 years. What kind of gameplay do we need to start developing to keep people excited for the future? Sonic Frontiers is the next step for the next 10 years. Hopefully the fans will believe in us and enjoy what we show them. We look forward to when they can play it and really understand what it’s all about.

Note that Sonic Frontiers is coming later this year for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and PC.
