Activision has revealed the hardware requirements for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. The developers have provided suggested configurations ready for the preferences of different players.
The requirements table is divided into four parts. Therefore, we can find minimum and recommended requirements, as well as competitive requirements – for those who own monitors with fast refresh rates – and Ultra 4K, for those enthusiasts wishing to run the game at the highest quality. We have included the details below.
Minimum hardware requirements
- System: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i3-6100, Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
- RAM: 8 GB
- Disk space: 72 GB + optional 32 GB for high-resolution asset storage
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470 with 2 GB VRAM
Recommended hardware requirements
- System: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K, Intel Core i7-4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400
- RAM: 12 GB
- Disk space: 72 GB + optional 32 GB for high-resolution asset storage
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 with 4 GB VRAM
Competitive hardware requirements
- System: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X
- RAM: 16 GB
- Disk space: 72 GB + optional 32 GB for high-resolution asset storage
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT with 8 GB VRAM
Ultra 4K hardware requirements
- System: Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K or AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
- RAM: 16 GB
- Disk space: 72 GB + optional 64 GB for high-resolution asset storage
- Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT with 10 GB VRAM
Therefore, as we can see, the developers made a very detailed breakdown of the requirements, and they even added several processor models for each category.
A major issue is additional disk space. Besides the basic 72 GB, the developers are recommending to prepare an optional 32 to 64 GB more for faster loading of assets (this feature will be possible to disable in options).
In other words, the game will occupy up to 136 GB on disk on release day, with the developers indicating that the game’s size may grow with future updates.
As a reminder, the game will make its debut on October 28, and starting today, those who have pre-orders can start early downloads of the title.
