Epic Games has found itself in a gift-giving mood again this year. It’s already been several days that the company has been lavishing free games on its PC Store, and by 11 AM ET another one is expected. Once again, though, their plans have been discovered early.
Started on Dec. 15, its 15 Christmas Gifts promotion has already lavished Epic Games Store users with several free games, the latest being Costume Quest 2, that will continue to be available for free redemption until 11 AM ET, when it is replaced by the mysterious new free game of Dec. 18.
“Mysterious” to a point, since this time, as well, its identity was not difficult to trace. The thumbnail image that Epic Games itself released to pique gamers’ curiosity almost certainly conceals Sable, the adventure and exploration game released in 2021 by Raw Fury and Shedworks.
What reveals it with almost absolute certainty are the peculiar color palette of the preview image and especially the two-toned masks portrayed on it, similar in every way to the one worn by Sable’s protagonist. Sable sees the eponymous protagonist engaged in the “Glide,” which is a rite of passage in which he will traverse vast deserts and fascinating landscapes dotted with spaceship wrecks, old wonders and environmental puzzles.
Assisting his movements is the hoverbike, a vehicle of transportation that can be freely customized through spare parts found in the game world. Accompanying the experience is is an original soundtrack composed for the occasion by Japanese Breakfast.
If everything goes as planned, the Sable will be made available for free redemption at 11 AM ET, Dec. 18, at this address. While waiting, do not miss Costume Quest 2 for free, redeemable from the same page.
