Starfield’s Steam Listing Unveils System Specifications and Storage Space You’ll Need

Get ready for Bethesda's highly-anticipated RPG with its system requirements and storage demands

We’ve gone from knowing little about Starfield to having a flood of information, including details about its impressive combat and less-than-stellar romance options. As Bethesda continues to share insights into their latest RPG, a recent leak from the game’s Steam listing has shed light on another important aspect: the system requirements.

Storage Space: A Cosmic Demand

If you’ve been struggling with managing your PC storage in recent years, brace yourself. Starfield will devour a massive 125GB of your SSD, making it a storage behemoth akin to a red giant. While not the largest game in recent memory, as Jedi Survivor required a whopping 155GB, Starfield firmly establishes itself in the league of +100GB games that have become the norm for PC gaming blockbusters.

Furthermore, potential Starfield players should take note of the phrase “SSD required” at the bottom of the system requirements list. If you’re still using a traditional hard drive with moving parts, it’s time to bid it farewell and equip yourself with a solid-state drive to ensure smooth gameplay.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Steam system specs can sometimes include peculiarities, so it’s wise not to panic just yet. We have reached out to Bethesda for further clarification and will update once we receive a response.

Reasonable Requirements with an Online Twist

Beyond its hefty storage demands, Starfield’s system requirements are otherwise reasonable. The minimum specifications call for an Intel Core i7-6800K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X processor, along with an Nvidia 1070ti or AMD Radeon RX 5700 graphics card.

For optimal performance, an Intel i5-10600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 processor, paired with a Radeon RX 6800 XT or Nvidia 2080 graphics card, is recommended. These requirements align closely with the specifications of a typical gaming rig from 2019. However, as recent experiences have shown, meeting the recommended specifications doesn’t guarantee flawless performance.

One notable detail is Starfield’s mandate for a broadband internet connection, a requirement not seen in all games listed on Steam. This suggests that the game may feature an always-online component, which could be disappointing for players looking for a purely single-player experience. Nevertheless, here is the full list of system requirements as revealed on the Steam listing:

Starfield Minimum Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 version 22H2 (10.0.19045)
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X, Intel Core i7-6800K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 5700, NVIDIA GeForce 1070 Ti
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 125 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD Required

Starfield Recommended Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10/11 with updates
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Intel i5-10600K
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 125 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD Required
  • Prepare for the Starfield Journey

Starfield

As the release of Starfield approaches, it’s crucial to ensure your PC meets the necessary specifications to embark on this highly-anticipated interstellar adventure.

With its extensive storage demands and reasonable system requirements, Bethesda’s upcoming RPG promises an immersive experience for players ready to explore the depths of space.
