Ubisoft has responded to player feedback on “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” by releasing an update that turns off the contentious chromatic aberration visual filter by default.
This feature, which simulates a camera lens’s inability to focus all colors at the same point, resulting in a slight color bleed at the edges of objects, had been a point of contention among players. With the new update, players now have the option to toggle this effect on or off according to their preference.
The update, which is 4.22 GB in size for the PC version, not only addresses the chromatic aberration issue but also brings a host of bug fixes, quest fixes, and other major and minor improvements to the game. The patch went live on November 7, at various times across global time zones.
Chromatic aberration had been a forced feature in “Assassin’s Creed Mirage,” leading to dissatisfaction among players who felt it detracted from their gaming experience.
The ability to customize visual settings is a valued aspect of PC gaming, with options like film grain and motion blur commonly being toggleable in other games. The absence of this option at the launch of “Assassin’s Creed Mirage” was a surprise to many.
The community’s reaction to the update has been positive, with players expressing relief and excitement on the game’s subreddit. Some players have even held off on diving deep into the game, waiting for this particular visual setting to become optional.
For those who prefer not to delve into the Ubisoft launcher and game files, there is also a mod available that removes the chromatic aberration setting. However, with the official update, this workaround is no longer necessary for those looking to customize their visual experience.
