Hollywood A-lister Brad Pitt is revving up for his latest role, returning to the Silverstone circuit for the British Grand Prix to continue filming the highly anticipated Formula One movie, now officially titled “F1.”
Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. have finally lifted the veil on the project, revealing not only the straightforward title but also dropping the first teaser poster. The poster, which emphasizes that the film was “filmed for IMAX,” hints at the grand scale of this production.
Pitt, donning the racing suit of the fictional APXGP team, was spotted at the Northamptonshire track, reprising his role as Sonny Hayes, a veteran driver making a comeback to the sport. This marks Pitt’s second stint at Silverstone for the film, following initial shooting during the 2023 Grand Prix before production was interrupted by industry strikes.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, known for “Top Gun: Maverick,” and written by Ehren Kruger, “F1” boasts an impressive cast including Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, a promising rookie driver, alongside Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, and Tobias Menzies. The film’s unique selling point is its unprecedented access to the world of Formula One, with racing scenes shot during actual Grand Prix events.
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton serves as a co-producer through his Dawn Apollo Films, lending authenticity to the project. The production team also includes industry heavyweights Jerry Bruckheimer and Pitt’s former production company, Plan B.
With a reported budget of $250 million, excluding marketing costs, “F1” is positioned as a potential summer blockbuster. Warner Bros. has set the release date for June 27, 2025, in North America, with international audiences getting a two-day head start on June 25, 2025.
As part of the promotional campaign, a teaser for “F1” is scheduled to air on the International Feed just before the British Grand Prix on Sunday, July 7. This strategic timing underscores the film’s commitment to capturing the essence of Formula One racing.
While some online commentators have noted the title’s simplicity, others argue it’s a smart move to attract both racing enthusiasts and general moviegoers. As the first major Hollywood production to receive full Formula One backing, “F1” promises to deliver an unparalleled, immersive experience of the high-octane world of motorsports.
As filming continues and anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Silverstone this weekend, both for the British Grand Prix and for glimpses of Brad Pitt and his co-stars bringing the world of “F1” to life on and off the track.
