Finally, the first trailer has landed for the long-awaited sequel “Gladiator 2” and it looks totally sweet! Director Ridley Scott is taking us back to ancient Rome with an awesome new cast led by Paul Mescal.
This time around, there are two emperors ruling which means drama and rivalry between brothers Caracalla and Geta. Historically things got real bad between them. Denzel Washington also stars as an arms dealer with a score to settle against the emperors.
Connie Nielsen returns as Lucius’s mom to connect it to the original flick. And Pedro Pascal joins in as a general who will clearly play a big role in Lucius’s story. You just know when he’s involved it’ll be full of action and twists.
Some fans debated the use of modern music in the trailer. But whether you love that touch or not, it’s clear Ridley Scott aims to prioritize the plot over recreating history exactly. Expect drama, intrigue and definitely some blood!
While history buffs may nitpick details, with this amazing cast and Scott at the helm, it’s sure to capture that epic scale again. After over 20 years, fans can’t wait to see if “Gladiator 2” lives up to its predecessor. I’m totally stoked to find out when it hits theaters this November!
