We just got our first look at Timothée Chalamet as Bob Dylan in the new movie “A Complete Unknown“. The teaser trailer was just released and it gives us a sneak peek at Chalamet’s transformation into the young folk singer.
The trailer starts with some scenes of Chalamet walking around New York City in the 1960s. You see him pass by famous spots like the Chelsea Hotel. Then he starts performing one of Dylan’s most well-known songs, “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall”. Even cooler, it seems like Chalamet is actually singing the song himself in the footage. That adds another level of realism to his portrayal of Dylan.
The movie is directed by James Mangold, who’s done other big films like “Logan” and “Ford v Ferrari”. It focuses on Dylan as a 19-year-old who moves from Minnesota to New York and skyrockets to fame in the folk music world. We’ll also get to see his iconic electric performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, which was a major turning point.
Get this – Bob Dylan himself has been helping out with the film! Mangold said he spent time with Dylan, who personally marked up the script with notes. That must have been so cool to get insights from the legend himself.
As for the story, it’s set during a pivotal period for Dylan in the early 1960s. We’ll see him arrive with just $16 and meet people like Woody Guthrie who helped him. Plus iconic stars like Elle Fanning, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Peter Fonda are in the cast too.
The movie looks like it will give fans an inside glimpse at the rise of a musician who changed music forever. “A Complete Unknown” is set to hit theaters this December just in time for awards season. I can’t wait to see more and see if Timothée Chalamet truly disappears into the role of a young Bob Dylan!
