“Obsession” breakout Inde Navarrette will make her “Saturday Night Live” hosting debut on Halloween, a booking that arrives as she prepares to play Rogue in Marvel’s “X-Men” reboot. Navarrette hosts the Oct. 31 episode with Gracie Abrams as musical guest. She told Variety she feels she “snuck in” and wants to keep the details secret so the audience gets a surprise. What she likes most about the job, she said, is arriving without knowing what comes next, and she is looking forward to working with the show’s writers.
The booking caps a rapid rise. A year ago she held a supporting role on a CW series that was later canceled. This year the horror film “Obsession” became a surprise hit and turned her into one of 2026’s breakout stars. Disney then confirmed her as Rogue at its D23 fan event, handing her a role first made famous on screen by Anna Paquin in the original “X-Men” films.
Navarrette spoke after a crowded weekend that took her from the Academy Museum Gala on Saturday to the Newport Beach Film Festival on Sunday. At the gala she met Jessica Lange, whom she called “an icon,” and Pamela Anderson. She said the way Anderson carries herself, with grace, honesty and creativity, is “exactly who I want to be.” On Rogue, she called the part an honor and said she is “a really big fan.” She said her bond with the character goes back to childhood viewing of the earlier films. She has not spoken directly with Paquin.
The physical side of the job is already in view. Asked about stunt training, Navarrette welcomed it as an excuse to head to the gym. “I’m the laziest person,” she joked, adding that she has always wanted to try that kind of work and is excited to get moving. A video she posted of herself struggling through a workout went viral last month, with fans teasing that she would not survive Rogue’s fitness test. Cameras are due to roll on the “X-Men” project next year. Marvel has not announced a release date.
