We informed you a few days ago that High on Life – a humorous FPS from the Squanch Games studio, which was co-founded by one of the creators of the Rick & Morty series – was doing well on Xbox consoles and on Steam.
It turns out, though, that it’s not the end of success. Indeed, the said title has also conquered Game Pass, thus becoming the biggest third-party launch in the history of Microsoft’s service.
This news was shared on the official Xbox brand page, where it is also reported that High on Life is also the biggest Xbox Game Pass launch in 2022 and the biggest launch among all games with only single-player mode in the service’s history.
Results, as Microsoft points out, is measured by player engagement and the number of hours spent in a given production in the first five days after launch.
This was the first time we made our game available on the Game Pass service. We are delighted with the response from players, which has made our production the most popular title in Game Pass today. Squanch Games was founded because we wanted to create games that we ourselves would want to play – with Game Pass, we can reach players who also want to play such titles,” said Mike Fridley, studio director and chief operating officer at Squanch Games.
High on Life is an incredibly unique title that we’ve been excited about for a long time. It’s fantastic to see so many Game Pass subscribers choosing to play the game at launch to experience the story crafted by Squanch Games in person just in time for the holidays,” added Matt Percy general manager of content planning at Xbox.
