It was just a matter of time. Following the release of the games Sam & Max Save the World Remastered and Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space Remastered, a revamped version of the third part of Sam and Max’s adventures also have finally arrived.

Studio representatives from Skunkape Games have officially announced Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse Remastered, a revamped edition of the 2010 production.

The target platforms were not specified, but we have learned that the release is scheduled for 2023. Sam & Max: Season 1 comes based on Steve Purcell’s comic book series titled Sam & Max.

The protagonists of the game are two self-proclaimed volunteer police detectives – the anthropomorphic dog Sam and the “hyperactive, bunny-like creature” Max.

Together they solve a series of cases having to do with a hypnotic conspiracy. Every episode contains one case, and all of them together are plot-related.

Telltale Games launched the game in 2005, after work on Sam & Max: Freelance Police by LucasArts studios was halted a year earlier; a number of Telltale Games employees had previously worked on the abandoned project.

The game received a positive reception from critics, drawing praise for its humorous content, artwork and gameplay.

However, critics criticized its low difficulty level of puzzles, episodes that were very similar to each other, and an illogical plot.

Despite this, the game has received several awards and is cited by industry sources as the first successful application released in episodic distribution; there have been two sequels: Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space (2007) and Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse (2010).

Did you have a chance to check out Sam & Max’s adventures? Or maybe you’ll be tempted to check out this trilogy only after the release of the third part’s remaster? Let us know in the comments section below.
