Will Smith has recently spoken out against Netflix for giving Chris Rock a platform to continue making comments about his family, particularly his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith.
The latest “attack” by Rock has received a response from Smith, who expressed his disappointment through a source close to the actor in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
According to the family spokesperson, Will is “embarrassed and hurt” by what Chris has said about him and his family in the Netflix special.
Although he hasn’t watched it, he has been told about the comments made by Chris, which are now circulating widely across various networks. “It’s everywhere you get on the networks so Jada and Will have seen some excerpts and comments about it,” the spokesperson added.
Will has already apologized to Chris and is urging him to drop the matter, saying that “enough is enough” and that Chris should move on.
However, he is also unhappy with Netflix for allowing Chris to continue insulting Jada. “He’s very upset with Netflix for giving Chris Rock a platform to share those kinds of messages. You think it’s disrespectful.”
In his monologue, Chris Rock reminded the audience of the time when Jada confessed to Will that she had been unfaithful with a friend of Jaden’s. “His wife has done him more harm than he did to me,” Rock said.
Despite having spoken about the incident in various shows throughout the United States, this was the first time he had referred to it on video for a wide audience of Netflix subscribers.
While some may argue that the comedian was being provocative, self-deprecating and thought-provoking, Will Smith is clearly unhappy with the platform for allowing Chris to make such comments about his wife.
It remains to be seen whether Chris will drop the matter, but for now, it seems that Will is standing his ground and expressing his disappointment with Netflix.
