A now-removed Amazon listing for the highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 1 may have prematurely disclosed some exciting additions to the upcoming game’s character roster. As indicated by the leak, fans can expect to see some well-known and, admittedly, quite brutal superheroes entering the fighting arena via DLC.
Mortal Kombat 1: Rebooting a Classic
Officially confirmed on May 18, after a whirlwind of speculation and rumors, Mortal Kombat 1 stands as the latest chapter in the renowned, intense fighting game saga. Living up to its name, this game indicates a thorough reboot of the entire franchise. NetherRealm Studios, the developer behind the game, is set to redefine its legendary warriors.
Recent confirmations have also indicated that, in keeping with previous modern Mortal Kombat installments, the new release will be complemented by a suite of post-release DLC characters. However, due to the leak, we may not have to wait until the official release to identify these new additions, as a supposed complete list of the first wave of names was leaked through an Amazon Italy listing.
Leaked DLC Characters for Mortal Kombat 1: Who’s Joining the Fight?
According to the now-modified Amazon listing (h/t VGC), the forthcoming DLC fighters will comprise Peacemaker, Homelander, Omni-Man, Ermac, Takeda, and Quan Chi.
Peacemaker, Homelander, and Omni-Man are all guest characters from outside the Mortal Kombat universe. Omni-Man is a well-recognized character from the Amazon Prime animated series “Invincible,” an adaptation of a comic series by the same name.
Homelander hails from “The Boys,” another superhero show, also based on a comic series, which airs on Amazon Prime. Peacemaker, meanwhile, is a DC anti-hero/villain who recently featured in his own television series, portrayed by John Cena.
The leaked characters align with earlier reports suggesting that Homelander and Peacemaker would be integrated into the game post-release. The remaining leaked DLC characters, Ermac, Takeda, and Quan Chi, are fighters from the Mortal Kombat universe who have made appearances in previous games.
While WB Games has not yet officially verified these characters as the upcoming DLC additions to the game, set to launch in September 2023, the fast removal of the leaked information from Amazon implies that this indeed could be the first wave of DLC characters for Mortal Kombat 1. We look forward to the confirmation and the expansion of the Mortal Kombat universe with this intriguing crossover.
