When it comes to the world of film, Quentin Tarantino needs no introduction. The acclaimed director has garnered immense recognition for his diverse range of films. As a result, any opinion he shares regarding movies carries significant weight.

Tarantino, known for his candidness, has never hesitated to express his thoughts on other directors, films, or any topic in the industry. In one interview that became legendary, he divulged a list of his favorite movies from 1992 to 2009, offering valuable insights into his cinematic preferences.

Among the multitude of films mentioned during the interview, there was one that Tarantino described as “the best movie to pass the time ever made before.” Although his opinions may have evolved over the years, at that time, he considered the film Dazed and Confused to be the epitome of an enjoyable time-passing movie.

Dazed and Confused: A 1993 Gem

For those unfamiliar, Dazed and Confused is a 1993 film directed by Richard Linklater. It features a star-studded cast, including Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, and Parker Posey. Set in a Texas high school, the film revolves around the adventures and misadventures of young protagonists on the last day before summer break. Amidst the freedom and revelry, their lives teeter on the edge of losing control.

Tarantino’s Enduring Opinion

Although Dazed and Confused initially struggled to find success at the box office, it has gained a dedicated following over the years, particularly through streaming platforms and television broadcasts.

In reference to the film, Tarantino shared, “Every time you see it, every three or four years, the characters are like your friends, and it’s like you’re dating them again, seeing your old friends.” This enduring sentiment speaks to the film’s ability to create a sense of familiarity and evoke a nostalgic connection with viewers.

If you have yet to experience the movie, perhaps it’s worth giving it a try when it becomes available on your preferred streaming service or television. Join the characters of Dazed and Confused on their nostalgic journey and discover why Quentin Tarantino found it to be the ultimate time-passing movie.
