Excitement was in the air for fans of the beloved JRPG series, Suikoden, as its spiritual successor, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, was slated for release this year. However, a recent announcement has revealed that the highly-anticipated game will not grace our screens until the second quarter of 2024. The delay comes with the goal of ensuring an exceptional gaming experience for its legion of backers.

The Journey of Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes was first announced in 2020, with the original creator of Suikoden, Yoshitaka Murayama, and seasoned designer Junko Kawano joining forces to establish the development studio Rabbit & Bear. The team sought support through a Kickstarter campaign to bring their vision to life.

The campaign surpassed all expectations, raising an impressive $4.5 million from the generous contributions of over 45,000 backers. This significant success allowed the team to include various stretch goals, expanding the game’s content and features.

The decision to delay the release was driven by the developers’ commitment to providing the best possible experience for fans. They want to deliver an unforgettable story and reward their dedicated backers with a polished and immersive game. While the wait may be longer, the team firmly believes it will be worth it.

According to a blog post from the developers, the base game’s story and downloadable content (DLC) have been finalized. Yoshitaka Murayama is currently working on the setting material and meticulously supervising the game’s detailed text. Notably, the in-game dictionary, which thoroughly describes everything within the world of Eiyuden Chronicle, is receiving considerable attention.

To keep backers excited during the wait, the developers shared artwork featuring some of the playable characters, including the intriguing Wolf and Kangaroo warriors. Additionally, a brief gameplay snippet displayed the game’s stunning 2.5D graphics, classic turn-based combat, and a captivating foggy forest area.

For Kickstarter backers, an email titled “Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes: Choose your Physical Platform” will soon arrive, allowing them to specify the platform for the physical edition of the game.

The delay may be disappointing for eager fans, but the dedication and passion of the development team shine through. As they strive to create a worthy successor to the beloved Suikoden series, players can eagerly anticipate the epic journey that awaits them in Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.

“Embark on an epic journey with over 100 unique characters in our Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes review. Experience the rich storytelling and deep gameplay of this highly anticipated JRPG.”
