The upcoming game “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” is generating buzz with its latest preview stream, where it was revealed that the main character, Phyre, will be fully voiced. This development is a significant step forward in creating a more immersive and engaging narrative experience for players.
Arone Le Bray, the principal narrative designer at The Chinese Room, the game’s developer, shared insights into this decision during a YouTube stream. He showcased early cutscenes, giving fans a glimpse of Phyre’s character in action.
In a conversation with PC Gamer, Le Bray explained that having a voiced protagonist allows the team to delve deeper into character customization and enhance the player’s connection to Phyre’s role in the story.
Despite this more focused approach, Le Bray emphasized the importance of player choice in shaping their narrative journey. He assured fans that they would have various options to tailor their experience, including clan choices that influence in-game powers and background selections reminiscent of Commander Shepard’s in Mass Effect.
Le Bray, with 14 years of experience as a narrative quality designer at BioWare, brings a wealth of storytelling expertise to “Bloodlines 2.” His work on renowned titles like Mass Effect, Star Wars, and Dragon Age has undoubtedly influenced the game’s narrative design, promising a rich and engaging story.
The game’s ending is also set to be impacted by player choices, with Le Bray stating, “the choices you make for characters, the way that you portray Phyre, [and] the way that you behave around other people [ensures that] the story [can] end in different ways.”
While “Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2” does not have a fixed release date yet, it is slated for release in 2024. Fans can expect a narrative-rich experience, with a fully voiced protagonist and a story that responds to their choices.
