In an unprecedented move, the thrilling two-part season finale of Doctor Who, starring breakout sensation Ncuti Gatwa as the Fifteenth Doctor, is set to captivate audiences on the big screen. On June 21st, cinemas across the United Kingdom will host a special screening event, offering devoted Whovians and casual viewers alike the chance to experience the culmination of this latest incarnation’s adventures in all its glory.

The double-bill event will commence at 11 pm with the penultimate episode, “The Legend of Ruby Sunday,” which airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on June 15th. This pivotal installment promises to shed light on the enigmatic origins of the Doctor’s companion, Ruby Sunday, portrayed by the talented Millie Gibson. Fans have speculated about Ruby’s true nature since her introduction in the 2023 Christmas special, and this episode may finally unravel the mystery surrounding her.

At the stroke of midnight, moviegoers will be treated to the epic season finale, “Empire of Death,” without the need to wait a week for its television broadcast. This high-stakes conclusion finds the Doctor and Ruby arriving at UNIT headquarters on a covert mission, only to uncover a long-buried secret that could have far-reaching consequences.

Showrunner Russell T. Davies, the visionary architect behind this latest era of Doctor Who, has teased an exhilarating spectacle. “This is a great big rip-roaring finale with the Doctor, Ruby, and friends old and new fighting the greatest enemy of their lives,” he enthused. “I can’t wait for everyone to see it!”

The decision to bring the finale to the silver screen underscores the immense popularity and cultural significance of the iconic science-fiction series. Since Gatwa’s debut as the Fifteenth Doctor, critics have showered praise on his performance, with some even hailing him as a contender for the best Doctor in the show’s nearly six-decade history.
