Resident Evil Zero, released in 2002, served as a prequel to the original Resident Evil, following the story of Rebecca Chambers and Billy Coen as they navigated their way through a train derailment and encountered the early stages of the viral outbreak. According to Dusk Golem, the initial murmurs of a summer reveal for the ninth mainline entry were inaccurate, and the game’s announcement has been pushed back to late 2025 or early 2026.

Dusk Golem also addressed rumors of remakes for the original Resident Evil and Resident Evil 5, dismissing them as unfounded. “RE:1 Remake rumors are bullshit, as far as I know, RE:1 is not in any form of development at all right now,” the leaker stated, adding, “RE5 Remake is not in development either, as far as I know.”
