Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has doubled down on the company’s commitment to a Fall 2025 launch window for the hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6, stating he is “highly confident” about hitting that time frame.
In recent comments, Zelnick met fans’ anticipation head-on by narrowing the previous 2025 release window to the more specific “Fall 2025” target. He then aimed to reinforce that timeline by asserting Take-Two’s high degree of confidence in GTA 6’s ability to ship during that period.
“The reason the company pushed out the Fall 2025 window is because we are highly confident in that timing,” Zelnick stated firmly.
However, the experienced gaming executive did acknowledge the possibility of delays in the same breath, owning up to the complexities involved in bringing a monumental project like GTA 6 to market.
“Delays can happen, but we feel highly confident about Fall 2025 based on where development stands,” he qualified.
Ever since Rockstar Games revealed the first official details about GTA 6 back in December 2023, fervor and hype around the open-world crime epic has reached fever pitch. Every new crumb of information feeds insatiable fan speculation and draws mega media attention.
Many expect GTA 6 to not only shatter entertainment sales records, but potentially become the fastest-selling game in history by pulling in over $1 billion on its first day alone.
While a 2025 release always seemed likely based on leaks and rumors, Zelnick’s frank comments this week represent Take-Two’s strongest commitment yet to a firm launch time frame.
Of course, no release date is ever set in stone for a game of GTA 6’s scope and ambition until it’s physically on store shelves. Game delays due to polishing, optimization and other unforeseen hurdles are common, even for the biggest AAA franchises.
But for the first time, Take-Two is signaling to both investors and fans alike that it has extremely high confidence the next Grand Theft Auto will conclusively hit the pivotal Fall 2025 window after likely being in development for the better part of a decade.
Fans should take heart in the publisher’s optimism. If GTA 6 can hold to that Fall 2025 target, the wait for gaming’s next pop culture phenomenon may finally be coming to an end.
