Fans of the popular anime franchise “My Hero Academia” have reason to celebrate as Toho International announces the North American theatrical release of “My Hero Academia: You’re Next.” The fourth installment in the franchise is slated to hit U.S. theaters on October 11, 2024, offering both English subtitled and dubbed versions.
The announcement came during the My Hero Academia Special Event at the 2024 Anime Expo in Los Angeles, where attendees were treated to an extended English subtitled clip from the upcoming film. Japanese voice actors Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya), Kenta Miyake (All Might), Mamoru Miyano, and Nukumi Meru were present at the event, adding to the excitement.
Set in a society overrun by villains, the film follows U.A. High School student Izuku Midoriya as he confronts a villain who imitates his former hero. This latest installment promises to continue the franchise’s legacy of action-packed storytelling and character development.
Koji Ueda, President of Toho International, expressed enthusiasm about bringing more Japanese titles to U.S. cinemas following the success of “Godzilla Minus One.” He stated, “Through the success of Godzilla Minus One, it became clear US moviegoers want to watch Japanese theatrical releases as intended – on the big screen with their friends and fellow fans.”
The “My Hero Academia” franchise, which began as a manga series in 2014, has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and spawned an anime TV series and three previous theatrical films. Its popularity has even led to Netflix signing on to produce a live-action adaptation.
With the release of an English Key Visual showcasing the film’s large cast, anticipation is building for what promises to be another thrilling entry in this beloved anime series.
