Amazon Prime Video is working on a new series based on a character from its popular show “Reacher.” The streaming service will produce a spinoff focused on Frances Neagley, a former military investigator who has appeared in both seasons of “Reacher.”
Neagley is portrayed by actress Maria Sten. In the “Reacher” series, she previously served alongside the main character Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. Now working in corporate security, Neagley has proven herself a valuable ally to Reacher in solving cases.
The untitled spinoff will be developed by Nick Santora, the showrunner for “Reacher.” Series author Lee Child will also be involved as an executive producer. Details on the new show’s storyline have not been released, but “Reacher” season two hinted at Neagley pursuing her own investigations outside of collaborating with Reacher.
While guest appearances by Jack Reacher actor Alan Ritchson seem likely, sources said frequent roles could conflict with how Reacher’s character prefers to work alone. “Reacher isn’t meant to be a sidekick,” one insider noted. However, Neagley has shown on her own that she can handle action sequences and solve crimes at a high level due to her military background.
Amazon finds success with expanding popular franchises, like what was done with the “Bosch” series. As “Reacher” has become a hit, the Neagley spinoff gives fans another chapter in this criminal universe. No official release date or comment has come from Amazon yet, but followers of “Reacher” will want to learn more about this upcoming addition starring Maria Sten’s character.
