Crime thriller Yadang: The Snitch, led by Kang Ha-neul, opened in first place at the South Korean box office over the weekend of April 18–20, drawing $4.1 million from 608,149 admissions. The film was released on April 16 and played across 1,832 screens, taking 69.8 percent of weekend revenue, according to data from Kobis, the Korean Film Council’s tracking service. Its cumulative total reached $5.26 million from 786,077 admissions by the end of the weekend.

Directed by Hwang Byung-gook, the film follows a paid informant, or “yadang,” who becomes entangled in a criminal conspiracy following a drug raid involving wealthy individuals. Kang is joined by Yoo Hae-jin as a prosecutor and Park Hae-joon as a detective. Both actors have been featured in recent box office titles, including Exhuma and 12.12: The Day.

The strong launch contributed to a lift in total weekend revenue for the top 10 films, which reached $5.4 million, up from $3.4 million the previous weekend.

The Match fell to second after leading for several weeks. The sports drama earned $707,392 from 105,820 weekend admissions. Since its March 26 release, it has grossed $13.1 million from 1.99 million admissions. The film stars Lee Byung-hun as Go master Cho Hun-hyeon.

Attack on Titan The Movie: The Last Attack held third, with $172,305 from 22,435 additional admissions. The anime has grossed $5.33 million from 752,321 admissions since opening on March 13.

In a limited run ahead of its national rollout on April 26, A Minecraft Movie placed fourth with $172,202 from 20,916 admissions across 83 screens.

British romantic comedy Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy debuted in fifth place, earning $78,219 from 11,722 viewers. Its total since opening on April 16 stands at $192,052.

Latvian animation Flow added $57,790 from 8,071 admissions in its sixth week. The film has now reached $1.12 million from 166,713 viewers.

Biopic Maria, starring Angelina Jolie as opera singer Maria Callas, opened in seventh place with $39,951 from 6,272 admissions on 266 screens. Its total currently stands at $84,718.

Japanese horror film Sayuri took eighth with $38,604 from 5,635 weekend admissions, bringing its total to $60,180.

In ninth place, U.S. thriller The Amateur earned $37,497 from 5,604 admissions. It has brought in $612,790 across South Korea to date.

Rounding out the top 10, Japanese animated feature Colorful Stage! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing collected $40,004 from 5,444 admissions on 26 screens.
