Presley Gerber, the only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office said. He was 27.
The medical examiner’s website lists no cause or manner of death, and an autopsy has not been completed. A representative for the family confirmed the death and asked for space: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
Gerber, born in California in 1999, followed his mother into modeling. IMG Models signed him at 15, and he walked runways for Moschino and Dolce & Gabbana and appeared in a Calvin Klein campaign. He made his runway debut for Moschino at 16.
His struggles with addiction and mental health played out in public. Police arrested him in January 2019 for driving under the influence after stopping his Tesla in Beverly Hills around 4 a.m. A court later sentenced him to three years of probation and ordered him to complete a DUI program.
Gerber went on to speak openly about treatment. He discussed his difficulties on a podcast in 2023. In 2024 he posted a video series called “Mental Health Mondays.” Last December he published an Instagram video, since removed, describing his recovery and the losses he said had shaped his recent months. Crawford commented beneath it: “Presley — we love you and you are not alone.”
His sister, actress and model Kaia Gerber, addressed the family’s experience in Vogue’s September cover story this month. She said a child’s addiction unsettles everyone in the household, and she described herself as the sibling who never wanted to ask for help. She said she was proud of her brother for acknowledging his struggles in public.
Crawford, 60, marked his 27th birthday in July with a Facebook post telling him she was proud of the man he had become. The four family members appeared together in May at a Los Angeles launch event for Kaia Gerber’s collaboration with RE/DONE.
