“Heated Rivalry” is heading to movie theaters. Regal will screen the full first season of the Canadian hockey romance series in more than 650 U.S. cinemas from Nov. 6 through Nov. 30, distributor Sphere Abacus announced Thursday.
Regal leads the release and will show the series at more than 275 of its own locations. AMC, Cinemark and other chains will carry it too. Viewers can watch the six episodes in order across three paired screenings: “Rookies” and “Olympians,” then “Hunter” and “Rose,” then “I’ll Believe in Anything” and “The Cottage.” Each pairing costs $9.99, so the full run totals about $30. Regal Rewards+ members can book at no extra charge. AMC has not said if A-List subscribers can use their monthly passes.
Regal screenings will open with welcome messages from the cast and creator Jacob Tierney. Participating theaters will sell two themed cocktails, Summer in Montreal and Russians Don’t Blush. Brooks LeBoeuf, Regal’s senior vice president of U.S. content, said the chain seeks ways to “give fans a reason to experience it together.”
Sphere Abacus, a Bell Media company that sold the show internationally, called “Heated Rivalry” a global phenomenon. The series follows Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie), rival professional hockey players whose private, casual relationship stretches across years and tests both careers. Tierney adapted it from Rachel Reid’s novel “Game Changers.”
The release arrives almost a year after the show premiered Nov. 28, 2025 on Crave in Canada, with HBO Max streaming it simultaneously in the United States. The series swept the Canadian Screen Awards in May with 16 wins and drew broad critical praise for Tierney’s direction and the leads’ chemistry. Season 2 is in production and adapts Reid’s sequel, “The Long Game.” Tierney has said it will land in late spring 2027, and no exact date has been set.
Streaming hits have tested theaters before, though rarely at this scale for a half-hour-style romance series. Exhibitors have turned to fan events, from concert films to anime marathons, to fill auditoriums on weeknights. The $9.99 price and short run position “Heated Rivalry” as a low-risk addition to that approach.
