Development studio Fatshark has announced that they will be delaying the release of their upcoming seasonal content and Xbox Series X/S version of their popular video game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide.
This is not the first time the release of the Xbox Series X/S version has been delayed, and according to the studio, the team behind the game is currently taking the time to carefully review player feedback regarding the computer version of the game, which was released on November 30, 2022.
The version for the Microsoft console was originally scheduled to be released shortly after the computer version, but it has now been delayed again.
In a statement shared by Martin Wahlund, CEO and co-founder of Fatshark, he says “We at Fatshark are very proud of our ability to deliver a game that millions of people can enjoy. This is what we set out to do with Warhammer 40,000: Darktide: create a very engaging and stable game with a level of depth that will keep you playing for weeks, not hours. Unfortunately, we did not meet those expectations.”
The statement went on to explain that in the coming months, the team will be focusing exclusively on responding to the feedback they have received from players.
They will be working on delivering a comprehensive crafting system, a more rewarding progression loop, and continuing to work on game stability and performance optimization.
“This also means that we will be delaying the release of seasonal content and the release of Xbox Series X/S. We will also be suspending upcoming premium cosmetic releases. We just couldn’t go down this path, knowing that we haven’t addressed many areas of feedback in the game today. Thank you for playing and for your feedback. They have helped and will continue to help shape the game we love,” the statement concluded.
The statement also highlighted that the team believes that the game is best played with friends, which is why they are working on making sure the game’s classes and different types of arsenal are well balanced so that each character has a specific role and the game is not a chaos of headless chickens.
They also acknowledged that the game’s technical problems can be a real headache at first, but once they have everything well adjusted and the connection allows players to play without too many inconveniences, it will be a long-lasting enjoyment.
