There was an avalanche of hatred on the free Diablo Immortal released on June 2, 2022. It was mainly insulted for its micropayments, as well as other things. So how does Blizzard respond to criticism of the game?
Somehow in response, the creators are regularly boasting about the growing interest that this game has been generating. Earlier today, a tweet appeared on the Twitter account dedicated to it, announcing thirty million downloads of Diablo Immortal on PC and Android and iOS mobile devices.
This figure is up ten million more than the announcement from just a week ago. Undoubtedly, such a huge increase in the number of downloads was prompted by the game’s release in China, which – after much controversy – happened on July 25.
With the release of Diablo Immortal in the Middle Kingdom, the revenue that the title generated exceeded the “magic” barrier of 100 million US dollars – and this was on mobile devices alone (according to data from analysts at Sensor Tower).
To compare, it took almost six weeks to jump from ten to twenty million downloads (from June 10 to July 23). Even in the first days after its release, Diablo Immortal had slightly less downloads.
Well, Blizzard can now celebrate. With the implementation of Pay-To-Win, the cash is flowing to them in streams…
