Regrettably, E3 2023, a much-anticipated event among gaming enthusiasts, has been called off. However, disappointment has turned into anticipation as a series of spectacular gaming shows are set to light up the summer.

Kicking off the roster is Sony’s PlayStation Showcase on May 24th, which will be followed by a variety of events orchestrated by renowned companies such as Microsoft and Ubisoft. Unsurprisingly, there are whispers of potential surprises that might be unveiled in these shows.

This piece aims to gather and explore the most compelling leaks and rumors that we’ve stumbled upon in the gaming world. Keep in mind that these are merely speculation and unconfirmed information. They should be considered with caution until we can secure independent verification.

Mortal Kombat Returns: From Rumor to Confirmation

The gaming industry is often shrouded in mystery, with rumors playing a significant part in the excitement that builds up around new releases. A perfect example is the recent buzz about a new Mortal Kombat game. The speculation surrounding this topic reached a peak this week with the official confirmation of the game, dubbed “Mortal Kombat 1,” slated to hit the shelves in September.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

The well-established game publisher Activision has confirmed that a new Call of Duty installment is expected within the year. However, the mystery remains as to what this game could be and when its announcement will take place. Current leaks hint at the potential title being “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3”, a project headed by Sledgehammer.

The game is expected to debut in November, but players might get an early taste through multiple beta periods and a campaign early access release. Multiplayer, campaign, and Zombies modes are anticipated to be part of the package. Speculation is ripe that Activision could pull the curtain back on the game in August, possibly through an in-game teaser campaign in Warzone 2.0. Traditionally, new Call of Duty titles have been unveiled in May, but this trend might see a change this year.

Konami’s Trio: Metal Gear, Silent Hill, and Castlevania

A report by VGC indicates that Konami is planning to make some notable announcements during the time initially earmarked for E3. The report hints at the unveiling of the much-anticipated Metal Gear Solid 3 and Snake Eater revival.

Other rumors suggest that a new Castlevania announcement might also be on the horizon, along with the revival of Konami’s Silent Hill with at least three new titles: Silent Hill: Ascension, Silent Hill: Downfall, and Silent Hill: F. In addition, a Silent Hill 2 remake seems to be in the pipeline. There is a high expectation to see more about these games in the coming summer.

Spider-Man 2: A September Release?

With the PlayStation Showcase focusing on PS5 games, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is predicted to be one of Sony’s biggest releases this year, is likely to grab some attention. Rumors hint at a potential September release, making the PlayStation Showcase a possible platform for the game’s official release date announcement.

Spider-Man 2

Persona 3 Remake

Atlus is rumoured to announce a Persona 3 remake during the Xbox Games Showcase in June. This buzz has excited the gaming community as the game has supposedly been under development for several years now. If these rumors hold true, we might finally witness a formal announcement this year.

The Future of Gaming: Next-Gen Switch

Rumors of Nintendo developing a more powerful console have been making rounds for quite a while now. While details are currently scant, a certain research firm speculates that the new console might make its debut towards the end of 2024. It’s worth noting that Nintendo rarely discloses its future hardware plans, but it has stated that no new hardware will be released before April 2024.

Conclusion

The summer of 2023, despite the disappointment of E3’s cancellation, is looking to be a thrilling season for gamers worldwide. As rumors continue to swirl, gamers eagerly anticipate the exciting revelations that the upcoming gaming shows promise to deliver.

It’s crucial, however, to take these rumors with a grain of salt until official confirmations are released. Stay tuned for regular updates and more information as we continue to follow these fascinating developments in the gaming world.
