The limited test version of Counter-Strike 2 has received an exciting update, introducing the popular Wingman game mode and two new maps. This eagerly awaited free upgrade for CS:GO aims to deliver the most significant technological advancement in the history of the game and is progressively incorporating new features in preparation for its official release later this summer.

Wingman Mode: A New Addition to the CS:GO Experience

Originally introduced as a special event mode in 2017, Wingman has now become an integral part of the Counter-Strike 2 upgrade. This thrilling 2vs2 mode offers players intense battles and strategic gameplay, adding a fresh dimension to the competitive experience.

Alongside the introduction of Wingman mode, the limited test has also unveiled two new maps: Overpass and Vertigo. Overpass can be enjoyed in various game modes including Deathmatch, Casual, Wingman, and Competitive, while Vertigo is available for Deathmatch and Casual modes.

These visually captivating and meticulously designed maps offer players exciting environments to showcase their skills and master tactical strategies.

As part of the recent update, Counter-Strike 2 limited test has bid farewell to the Nuke and Office maps, making room for the fresh additions. Furthermore, the developers have implemented a range of bug fixes and smaller enhancements. Notable changes include the addition of a “Secondary Fire Hold” option in the input settings menu and the inclusion of a visible halftime countdown timer.

Anticipating the Full Release of Counter-Strike 2

The announcement of Counter-Strike 2 in March created substantial anticipation among the gaming community. With promises of revamped maps, dynamic smoke grenades, and enhanced audio and visual effects, the upcoming release is poised to take the franchise to new heights.

Gaming experts, such as Digital Foundry, have already praised the limited test, expressing their excitement about the meaningful improvements and how they elevate the overall gameplay experience.

Digital Foundry’s Will Judd commented on the anticipated release, stating, “For years, it has felt like Counter-Strike’s progress has been hindered by its age, with the outdated codebase making it more challenging to introduce new features. However, with CS2, Valve seems to have cleared away the obstacles, allowing for significant changes at a much faster pace.”

We are excited to ship our first overhauled map into the Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test, de_overpass, alongside de_vertigo. Vertigo is playable Casual and Deathmatch modes. Overpass is available to play in Casual, Deathmatch, Competitive, and Wingman (new!).
