On September 6, Baldur’s Gate 3 made its debut on the PlayStation 5, and in no time, it achieved two remarkable feats. The game now proudly occupies the number one spot on Metacritic’s list of the best PS5 games of all time, boasting an impressive Metascore of 97. This score surpasses its initial rating on the PC, which was received just over a month ago.

What’s even more astonishing is that Baldur’s Gate 3 has outperformed Elden Ring, the renowned action RPG from FromSoftware, which held a Metascore of 96.

Notable titles like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, God of War: Ragnarok, Hades, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and many others also feature on this prestigious list. Clearly, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a strong contender for the coveted title of Game of the Year in 2023.

Larian Studios’ Ambitions

Despite a busy week, the Larian Studios team is not ready to rest on their laurels just yet. They have revealed plans to introduce crossplay between PC and console for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Furthermore, there is the tantalizing possibility of future DLC for the game. When discussing post-launch plans for this Dungeons & Dragons RPG, the development team expressed their desire to expand, though the specifics remain uncertain. Adding to the excitement, Swen Vincke, the director of Baldur’s Gate 3, has already embarked on his next gaming project.

Discover a New Tactical RPG Gem: Delve into our “Lost Eidolons full game review” to uncover the strategic depth and promising potential of Ocean Drive Studio’s debut title. RPG enthusiasts, you won’t want to miss this!
