Bandai Namco has officially announced Eddy as the first DLC character for “Tekken 8,” the latest installment in the iconic fighting game series. This news, revealed in a new video showcasing Tekken 8’s opening movie, has ignited excitement among fans eagerly anticipating the game’s release.
A veteran character of the “Tekken” series, Eddy makes a striking return with a refreshed look, sporting a high-top dreads hairstyle and a new outfit. Despite these aesthetic changes, Eddy retains his signature capoeira fighting style, much to the delight of long-time fans.
His introduction marks the beginning of the Season 1 DLC rollout, with three more characters scheduled to be released throughout the year—another in the summer, one in autumn, and the final addition in winter.
The opening movie of “Tekken 8” itself, described more as a character montage than a story introduction, features a dynamic display of over-the-top expressions and actions from a wide array of characters. It showcases both familiar faces and newcomers, continuing the series’ legacy of diverse and captivating characters.
Central to the Tekken series is the ongoing conflict between Jin and Kazuya, a storyline that has captivated players for years. For those needing a refresher on the intricate plot of the Tekken universe, an explainer narrated by Brian Cox from the popular series “Succession” offers a comprehensive catch-up on the story so far.
“Tekken 8,” set to be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on January 26, marks a significant moment for the franchise. It’s the first major release since “Tekken 7” in 2015 and promises to continue the series’ legacy of intense and engaging fighting gameplay.
The inclusion of DLC characters like Eddy signifies Bandai Namco’s commitment to expanding the game’s universe and providing players with fresh experiences and challenges.
